What is Parent Commissioning?
Parent Commissioning is a time for parents and the church to commemorate the birth or adoption of a child, in the setting of a worship service. This is an opportunity for parents to come before their church family and make a commitment to God by agreeing to raise their children by Christian principles, so one day, prayerfully, their children will become followers of Jesus Christ.
How do I start the process of taking part in a Parent Commissioning?
Participants in Parent Commissioning must be church members, having completed the membership process through the City Church Next Steps Class and signing a membership agreement. Because we are asking our church family to make a commitment to embrace and support your family, that is best accomplished if you are fully involved in the ministries and fellowship of the church.
If you have been attending regularly, but have not yet made the decision to become a member of our church family, we invite you to make that your next step in the journey of leading your family. You can register for an upcoming Next Steps Class, where you will begin the membership process.

Will I receive support or guidance through the process of Parent Commissioning?
Yes! In order to take part in a Parent Commissioning Sunday service, parents must attend our Family Discipleship 101 Class prior to the desired parent commissioning date.
This class is designed to support and provide resources for parents as they lead their families in following God’s design for their lives.

To help equip your child, we highly recommend he or she attend our KiDS Salvation and Baptism Class to gain a further understanding of baptism.

God calls the family to play a vital role in discipling the next generation. Family discipleship is not a one-size-fits all responsibility. Many parents may feel ill-equipped to have conversations with their children regarding salvation, baptism, and the doctrines of the Christian faith.
